Your son or daughter is working hard to learn the haftorah; you want to throw a real celebration to mark this special day. Your child is preparing to stand before the community as a newly minted grownup; you want to host a Kiddush to thank the congregation. A big party? The Kiddush? Your family? The congregation? The friends from school? There's a lot to juggle when it comes to planning a bar or bat mitzvah. But it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Our event planners will help you with everything from menu to party flow to DJs to décor and favors. We know how to meet the needs of grandparents and realize the dreams of eighth graders. (Yes, it can be done.)

Here are a few tips to get you started:

Before you do anything else, speak with your son or daughter about how they'd like to celebrate on their big day. Welcome them into the planning process; they may surprise you with great ideas. And remember: It's a simcha for your family, friends, community -- but it's a big accomplishment for them. They've worked hard to get here. Think about what they like -- Baseball? Old movies? Guitar Hero on the Wii? -- and how you might incorporate their interests into the celebration.

Figure out the events you'd like to host: Will you be welcoming family and friends to Shabbat dinner on Friday night? Sponsoring a special Kiddush? A post-services celebratory luncheon on Saturday? A dinner or kids after-party on Saturday night? Naturally Delicious can help with events big or small, casual or formal -- whatever your budget. And we offer discounts for multiple events.

Create a guest list: Will you be inviting just friends or the whole congregation? Will you be throwing one party for family and the friends from school -- or two separate parties?

Decide what food you'd like to serve: Finger foods, mocktails and an ice cream sundae bar for the kids? Elegant appetizers, cocktails and sushi bar for the grownups? We can help you find the right balance -- and can arrange for glatt kosher meals for any guests who need them.

Think about what ceremonial items you might need: Would you like us to bake you a large ceremonial challah? Do you need special chairs to hoist the guest of honor during the hora? Will you be using your own Kiddush cups or Havdalah candleholder? Incorporating your family's treasured ritual items can make it all more personal and meaningful. We can help coordinate -- and are as careful with them as if they were our own.

Find your spot and set the mood: Where will the event be? Your home? A great party space? What about music, lighting, décor? We can help you find the right venue, plan party flow, find a DJ, a florist -- you name it. Our preferred vendors are responsive, reliable and creative. We've worked with them on countless events, and they've earned our trust and admiration.

Add something that will make it really special: Rugelach made from your grandmother's recipe? A video slideshow about the guest of honor? The bar/bat mitzvah's favorite snack food? It's details like these that make a party memorable.

Sit back and feel proud.
