Event Planning Intern Candidate must have polished communication skills and be pursuing a career in hospitality industry. This position is for someone who understands the importance of excellent customer service. Candidate must be a self starter, team player, multi-tasker, able to handle deadlines and work collaboratively in an intimate office setting. Computer experience and knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs are a must. Knowledge of Caterease software is a plus but not mandatory. Responsibilities include assisting with all types of events from small in-home parties and corporate events to larger weddings and cocktail parties. Day-to-day administrative duties include organizing client information, researching party themes and menus, writing contracts and invoices, and assisting with office work. This is a 3-6-month internship opportunity that may lead to a permanent position with the company. We are looking for someone who can commit at least 15 hours per week. Intern will rotate through kitchen stations, learning knife skills, kitchen organization and cooking techniques, including how to create stocks, soups, hors d'oeuvres, dressings, sauces, desserts and all mise en place necessary for catered events. Techniques taught will be knife work, butchering, braising, sautéing, grilling and baking.
